Ministry of Public Works Prepares 541 Eid Homecoming Posts in National Routes for 2025
"Diana also ensured that the national roads are ready for travelers. The stability level of the national roads for Eid 2025 has reached 95.2 percent. 'We ensure that all national roads on the main routes are in good condition, with no issues and the road structures are in good condition. Along the non-toll national route of 47,604 kilometers, the stability level has reached 95.2 percent,' she said."
The Ministry of Public Works is preparing 541 rest posts on national routes for Eid 2025. These posts can be used by travelers as resting places during their journey. "We, the Ministry of Public Works, provide 541 rest posts on the Eid route on national roads that can be used as comfortable resting places. They must be equipped with prayer facilities, snacks, and toilets. If there are not enough, we will provide portable toilets," said Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti in a News Room discussion broadcast by Kompas.com via YouTube on Monday (March 24, 2025).
Several improvements have been made, including the asphalt work on the 25-meter flyover access to the ASDP Merak Port and the 342-meter port flyover, which is now ready for use.
At the Bakau Jaya Port, the asphalt work on Seruni spanning 58.7 meters has also been completed. "Access to Ciwandan Port for motorcycles has been handled with drainage work and asphalt work also carried out by the Cilegon City Government. So we are ensuring that all preparations are proceeding safely and smoothly," he concluded.
The traffic flow to Merak Port, Cilegon, Banten, both via the toll road and arterial routes, is still observed to be smooth without significant congestion. The police and port management predict that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on March 28, 2025, or H-3 of Eid, ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H, which is expected to fall on March 31, 2025.
Although the conditions are still conducive, movement has started to increase. On Monday, March 24, 2025, more than 2,000 tickets have been sold, with the number of travelers who have crossed to Bakauheni Port, Lampung, reaching the same figure. PT Angkutan Sungai, Danau, dan Penyeberangan (ASDP) Indonesia Ferry has also implemented a single fare policy. Travelers who purchase express tickets will receive a refund of the price difference.
To anticipate the surge of homecoming traffic, the Police, in this case, the Cilegon Police, have prepared a traffic engineering scheme, one of which is through a delaying system. If congestion occurs on the arterial route, this system will be implemented at points before the port to reduce vehicle queues within the terminal area.
In addition, PT ASDP has also increased the number of ships operating during the Eid transportation period. From previously 26 ships, the number has now increased to 36 ships, including ships with large capacity to accommodate more travelers.
As of H-7 before Eid, the number of passengers who have crossed from Java Island to Sumatra Island reached 46,785 people, an increase of 6 percent compared to last year, which recorded 44,128 people during the same period. With this trend, the number of travelers is predicted to continue to rise as the Eid al-Fitr holiday approaches.
