Luhut: Regulasi Bisnis Indonesia Tertinggal dari Vietnam, Filipina - OSCARLIVING

Luhut: Indonesia's Business Regulations Lag Behind Vietnam, Philippines

The Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Pandjaitan cited a World Bank report stating that Indonesia is lagging behind in business regulation.

"Currently, based on the World Bank report, Indonesia is still lagging behind in business readiness regulation compared to Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines," he stated in a post on the Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan, Wednesday (26/3).

"The time required to register a foreign company in Indonesia takes 65 days compared to the world best standard of just a few days. The process of resolving business disputes in court can even take up to 150 days," said Luhut.
He emphasized that 86 percent of business actors believe that regulations are still the main obstacle. Luhut acknowledged that various obstacles in Indonesia must be resolved with real action.

Therefore, Luhut asked the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) to assist the government in compiling a list of overlapping, convoluted regulations that burden investors. He emphasized that all aspects, from basic licensing to certification issues, must be addressed.

"The government does not want this momentum to be wasted. We want to sit together, listen, and move together to improve the business climate in Indonesia," promised Luhut.

"After the Idulfitri holiday, I will immediately report the results of this meeting to President @prabowo to get further directions," he added.

"Bos DEN is aware that what he is doing now is still in the early stages. However, Luhut is committed to continuing to oversee the deregulation process in the homeland."

He promised that what the government does is not just rhetoric. The hope is that collaboration with business actors can create a business ecosystem that is more open, efficient, and capable of driving national economic growth.

On the other hand, the DEN has agreed with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to seek concrete solutions. Luhut emphasized that there should be no more policies that are only warm at the beginning but weak in implementation.

"The 'fire and forget' approach must be left behind. Therefore, I want to ensure that this deregulation process truly takes place and results in real change," he concluded.
