President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia's economic fundamentals remain strong. Despite a series of shocks currently affecting the global economy, Prabowo is confident that Indonesia's economy remains strong.

This was stated by Prabowo after inaugurating the Batang Industropolis Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Central Java, Thursday (20/3/2025).

"Our economic fundamentals are strong. If there are shocks here and there, they're global shocks, but our fundamentals are strong," Prabowo explained.

Unfortunately, he didn't elaborate on the indicators underlying Indonesia's strong economic fundamentals. He did, however, mention several stimuli that could boost the Indonesian economy ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

Starting from controlled prices of basic commodities, to discounts on various transportation fares to provide low prices for the public.

"I see, thank God, with less than a week until Eid, I think food and basic necessities prices are under control, and yes, we've planned well. Hopefully, the homecoming season will be smooth, we'll lower airfares, lower toll road fares, and we'll provide the best possible facilities for our people," Prabowo explained.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto presented the current economic conditions to Prabowo at the Presidential Palace. He stated that Indonesia's economic growth has been relatively good across the board. Inflation rates remained low as of February, with core inflation positive.

"The consumer confidence index (PMI) in February was recorded at a high 53.6, with January credit growth reaching 10.3 percent, and foreign exchange reserves at the end of February also reaching a high level," Airlangga explained on his Instagram account on Wednesday (March 19, 2025).

"Regarding the national economic conditions, I would like to convey that Indonesia's economic fundamentals remain strong," he stressed.

In addition, Indonesia's trade balance until February 2025 also recorded a surplus of US$ 6.61 billion, with the highest export value reaching US$ 14 billion in February.
