President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of national economic independence amidst the uncertain global situation. He made this statement at the opening of an Economic Discussion held at the Mandiri Tower in Jakarta on Tuesday (April 8, 2025).

In his speech, President Prabowo highlighted the policies of major powers that have caused global economic turmoil and impacted developing countries, including Indonesia. Therefore, the President urged all stakeholders to return to the vision of the nation's founders: building economic independence by standing on one's own two feet.

"In fact, our nation's founders, including myself, have been reminding us for years: let's build our economy with the goal of standing on our own two feet," the President said.

The President further explained that his administration's national development strategy is based on self-sufficiency in food, energy, water, and industrialization, with a spirit of siding with the people. He added that the entire strategy is not merely a slogan, but is rooted in Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

"The foundations of the government I lead are Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. They are not a mantra, a slogan, or a motto, but rather a basis for thought," the President said.

According to the President, the Pancasila economy is an economy based on kinship and social justice. The Head of State emphasized that he rejects the economic model that leaves ordinary people behind.

"Our economy is based on family. No one should be hungry in a republic that has been independent for 80 years. No family should live under a bridge. This hurts the sense of justice," he added.

The President also invited all parties to remain optimistic and believe in the strength of their own nation.

"I am proud to now be President of the Republic of Indonesia. We will control our wealth and manage it for the greatest benefit of the people," the President said.

This Economic Seminar provided a strategic forum for the government, business community, and economists to exchange views on the current state of the Indonesian economy and future policy directions. During the event, several ministers and heads of institutions presented on the national economic situation.

Also present at the event were heads of state institutions, ministers of the Red and White cabinet, economists and financial market analysts, as well as stakeholders.
